How NAFTA has affected the financial service industries in the United S
The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was sanctioned in November of 1993 with expects to encourage the free progression of merchandise, administrations and work between the United States, Canada and Mexico. The confirmation of NAFTA made the worldââ¬â¢s biggest free market with about 390 million buyers and an expected all out yield of $8.6 trillion. Unmistakably, this exchange partnership has impacted the money related assistance enterprises of the taking an interest countries and will keep on doing as such later on. Be that as it may, the money related assistance arrangements of NAFTA will have adequately more prominent ramifications for Mexico than either the United States or Canada. This is to a limited extent since Mexico is setting out upon a more noteworthy move towards transparency in its money related help ventures. The way that the budgetary markets of Canada and the United States have been exceptionally coordinated preceding NAFTA infers that they won't advanta ge as much from exchanges inside their own business sectors. Whatââ¬â¢s more, Canadaââ¬â¢s exchange with Mexico is 1 percent of its exchange with the United States. In any case, the chief additions from money related incorporation of this sort have to a great extent to do with the more productive distribution of capital across global limits and the more effective arrangement of residential budgetary administrations to shoppers. à à à à à The essential increases to the United States from the NAFTA budgetary administrations understanding will be overwhelmingly found over the long haul. The entrance to a market that incorporates 90 million individuals and has been served by a monetary and banking part that has been generally wasteful and illiquid will end up being a significant preferred position to the United States. Despite the fact that the market access to Mexicoââ¬â¢s budgetary industry has been steady, U.S. banks, safety net providers and money related organizations have free and reasonable access to Mexico. Further, as opposed to Canada, the United States has had solid chronicled attaches with Mexico and this nature is required to give a favorable position to the United States in Mexico. In the years to come, further development of business for U.S. banks and monetary organizations on account of NAFTA can be normal. à à à à à A key effect of the budgetary administrations segment is that U.S. banks and budgetary establishments will be compelled to improve their seriousness. The McFadden Act (1927) and the Glass-Steagall Act (1933) constrained branch-based banks an... ...a hemispheric coalition, in spite of the fact that specialists gauge that an extension all through Latin America will take a lot of time and assets because of political moving. In any case, the ramifications of such an understanding will without a doubt sway the economies of all nations engaged with a sensational and unrivaled design. Methods for Sustainability in the Chemical Industry
Techniques for Sustainability in the Chemical Industry List of chapters (Jump to) Presentation Methods OF MAINTAINING SUSTAINABILITY IN THE CHEMICAL INDUSTRY 1. Sustainable AND CLEAN ENERGY 2. CATALYSIS 3. Proficient WASTE MANAGEMENT AND RECYCLE 4. More secure SOLVENT End REFERENCE Presentation Otherwise called green science, maintainability in the synthetic business is the training or a perspective of compound looks into that is configuration to concentrate on the decrease or end of the concoction forms that outcomes to the creation of an age of dangerous substances especially to the earth and humankind (USEPA, 2015). Regarding the current climatic changes, physical confirmations shows that the rate at which sunlight based vitality is gotten from the sun contrasted with the rate at which it is lost to space, has seriously expanded over the earlier decades, Hence, contrarily influencing the atmospheres of various locales over the globe. This could be associated to the way that numerous substance forms utilized in the ventures today are not feasible enough (Blackstone 2015). Figure 1: Gas Emission from a Chemical Plant Source: www.texastribune.org Methods OF MAINTAINING SUSTAINABILITY IN THE CHEMICAL INDUSTRY There are a few ways to deal with keep up supportability in the substance business today; anyway this report focused on four of them; 1. Inexhaustible AND CLEAN ENERGY Most concoction forms requires vitality so as to appear, and with petroleum product getting dynamically increasingly rare with correlation with request, there is the need to discover elective sources, for example, reused or sustainable power source. The eventual outcomes of utilizing non-renewable energy source, especially to work a compound plant such an alkali plant for instance is that a lot of Carbon-monoxide is delivered as result subsequently adding to the current worldwide difficulties of environmental change (University of York, 2014). Methods of Using Energy Effectively By utilizing great insulative materials and very much supported hardware, heat misfortune will be diminished during the procedure of creation and any overflow warmth ought to be re-used to delivered high temp water instead of being lost to nature. Synthetic responses that require lower temperature ought to be viewed as when the alternative is accessible. Where conceivable, substance plants ought to abstain from utilizing generator to produce power as a result of the discharge of carbon-monoxide. 2. CATALYSIS The utilization of impetuses assumes a tremendous job in the upgrade of an increasingly reasonable procedure for the creation of synthetic concoctions. There are a few advantages in utilizing and creating impetuses for modern substance responses, some noteworthy ones being: They emphatically influence the condition required for the compound response, regularly diminishing the vitality required by decreasing the weight and temperature. They encourage the use of elective responses which for the most part have a superior iota economy subsequently lessens wastage. They empower the likelihood to accurately control the response pathways, thus diminishing undesirable results and making it simpler to filter and separate the favored items. Model: In the creation of nylon-6 (a fundamental polymer used to make textures); cyclohexanone is modified into caprolactam through the methods for oxime (responding hydroxylamine hydrogen-sulfate with ketone). This procedure requires the need to isomerised sulphuric corrosive with the reactant (caprolactam) which at that point emits ammonium sulfate (wastage). With the presentation of an impetus (zeolite), the synthetic responses are revised thus coming about to disposal of the resulting wastage from sulphuric corrosive (University of York, 2014). 3. Effective WASTE MANAGEMENT AND RECYCLE As much as it is for all intents and purposes difficult to have zero-wastage, compound practices can soak up the accompanying society beneath; Squander Avoidance: Where conceivable, compound procedures that include less or no wastage ought to be considered essentially in light of the fact that it spares time, cash and jelly the earth. By and large, substance squander items are dealt with extraordinarily because of their unsafe propensities to humankind and nature (Blackstone 2015). Squander Re-utilization: In cases whereby it is practically outlandish not to deliver squander, elective methods ought to be conceived so as to re-utilize the waste items made. For instance, a synthetic plant, that leads a great deal of ignition can re-utilize the carbon-monoxide (result) to created methanol by the hydrogenation of the carbon-monoxide (University of York, 2014). Squander to-vitality Conversion and Recycle: In specific conditions, the vitality expected to reuse the waste item perhaps huge contrasted with the upsides of the reused item consequently it might be impressive better to change over waste to vitality. Reuse and changing over waste to vitality ought to be tradable. For instance, the creation of cotton with the utilization of pesticides and manures could wind up requiring more vitality and contaminating more than the creation of certain counterfeit filaments or textures (University of York 2014). Landfill: this is frequently viewed as the most practical approach to arrange specific compound waste particularly in nations like America and Nigeria with huge open fields. With other waste administration strategies, for example, cremation and asset recuperation both requiring wide interests in labor and framework, landfills have less expense, permitting them to stand well. They can likewise be moved up to produce flammable gas which can be possibly observed as income stream (Blackstone 2015). 4. More secure SOLVENT As a major aspect of the way to protect nature and to keep up the acts of a practical science, it is desirable over lead responses that happen in a vaporous stage basically in light of the fact that they maintain a strategic distance from the utilization of solvents to unite reactants. Instances of these procedures incorporate; the assembling of alkali, methanol, ethene and ethanoic. In the creation of ethanoic, where conceivable, an elective dissolvable which isn't hurtful ought to be utilized on the grounds that the dissolvable promptly dissipates into the air except if security safety measures are taken to contain them (University of York, 2014). End The four methods for keeping up maintainability in the substance business as clarified with model in the body of this article would go far in saving nature and its environment whenever kept by and by, especially to the people in the future. What's more, the need to similarly accentuation and assimilate this training in current synthetic procedures is practical feasible both to the compound enterprises and to potential speculators. Argumentative Essay On The Crucible - 1217 Words
The Crucible Essay If someone told you that your light in your room is flickering, because of witchcraft and not the simple fact that the light bulb is burnt out, would you believe them? Well in Arthur Millers play, The Crucible they did if something out of the ordinary happened and couldnââ¬â¢t be explained they turned to witchcraft. People were being accused without any proof which leads us to the theme of this play that is to not believe false accusations or accusations that have no proof. The author, Arthur Miller is trying to convey in this story that the government can sometimes get too powerful over the people and rule the people in ways just to benefit themselves. In todayââ¬â¢s world there is a lot of debates about whether or notâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦All of this relates back to the theme of the, The Crucible to not believe in false accusations, because thatââ¬â¢s exactly what happened even though the opposite shouldââ¬â¢ve happened when Tituba got ac cused and Abby was the guilty one. Another part of the story to show the theme is when Rebecca Nurse is being accused and even though this is so odd because everyone knows how good of a soul Rebecca is they still believe it just because someone accused her. It is explained here in the text, ââ¬Å"You will never believe, I hope, that Rebecca trafficked with the Devil. Hale: Woman it is possibleâ⬠(32). This part of the story shows the theme, because Rebecca is being falsely accused but everyone is still going along with it. Arthur Miller writes about why he wrote the crucible and says, ââ¬Å"There was bad blood between the two women nowâ⬠(3). Miller is talking about Abigail and Elizabeth in this part about how Elizabeth fired Abigail and now Abby is accusing John of witchcraft. This can explain the theme, because since those two have bad blood between them you can guess that Abbyââ¬â¢s accusation is not the truth. This shows to not believe in false accusations, because they could be accusing someone for other reasons than just witchcraft. All in all the theme in The Crucible is to not believe in false accusations or accusations that had no proof, all these examples from the story showed it well because all theShow MoreRelatedHow Writing Is A Skill That Anyone Can Be Good1161 Words à |à 5 Pageswith The Crucible are both examples of how important it was to understand how the timing and beliefs played a factor into writing. National Student Loan Data System - 1491 Words
The Obama administration has successfully created and passed a new law that will unfairly enforce more regulations on post secondary schools. This new law, called Program Integrity: Gainful Employment (GE) was established when concerns were raised about the amount owed on student loan debt. This single ruling will permanently close several hundred programs and lower the options of educational choices for non-traditional students. The American taxpayer dollar is funding the education of low income students in the form of Federal Pell Grants and Federal Direct Student Loans. The federal government has the responsibility of funding those student loans. The Department of Education (DOE) is responsible for the rules applied to student loans.â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦According to the final ruling on October 31, 2014, the DOE will target post secondary schools with a mandate that the schools must show that their graduate students are gainfully employed with an income that will allow st udent loan debt repayment (ââ¬Å"Programâ⬠). Taken as a median income of all graduates, these sole figures will close an institution when federal funding is lost because the metrics set by the Obama administration are not met. Lobbyists have successfully blocked parts the new regulations in federal court. According to their second suit filed in November 2014 against Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities feel that this regulation is unacceptable and in violation of federal law (ââ¬Å"APSCUâ⬠). The lawsuit also suggests that millions of students will have a limited number of programs to choose from because so many schools will close permanently. The DOE conceded in the first suit that no single test is a perfect solution of determining if a school is passing the GE rule (Program). Originally, there were three metric tests; now there is only one that has two parts. This single test will take the annual wage information from the Social Security Administration and compare those wages against the studentââ¬â¢s loan debt. To pass the metric guidelines, the GE rule explains that a student must have a debt to earnings ratio (d/e) less than

Legalizing Marijuana Does Society Really Need Another Way...
At some point in the not-too-distant future, America will confront the question of whether or not to legalize the use and cultivation of marijuana. A recent poll shows that support for legalization has reached its highest level since the question was first asked thirty years ago, with 34 percent supporting a liberalization of policy. Among political elites there is a growing consensus that the harsh penalties imposed on those who grow, use, and sell marijuana are disproportionate to its harmful effects. Even among conservatives, opinion seems to be shifting. Whether the change should be welcomed is another matter. In a recent essay for National Review, Richard Lowry raises the question of whether marijuana is truly harmful-and heâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Much more potent is Lowrys argument against the conventional wisdom that pot is a gateway drug to such harder substances as LSD, cocaine, methamà phetamine, and heroin. Reversing accepted assumpà tions, Lowry denies both that kids who use marijuana go on to experiment with stronger drugs and that those who do so are led to this behavior by the marijuana itself. As he points out, just because a cocaine addict used marijuana first doesnt mean he is on cocaine because he smoked marijuana. To argue in this way is, he claims, to confuse temporality with causality. It is more likely that children who experiment with drugs of all kinds do so because of a preexisting behavioral problem. Its thus the kid, not the substance, who is the problem. Like the NRAs effective campaign to persuade the country that guns dont kill people, people kill people, Lowrys argument contains much truth. Of course a troubled child is more likely to try drugs than one with a firm sense of right and wrong. But thats far from being the end of the story. Just as a would-be murderer can usually do far more harm with a gun than he could with a less potent weapon, so a child in danger of losing his way can do more damage to himself when drugs are widely available for his use, as they surely would be if they were legalized. Harmlet Claudius Essay Example For Students
Harmlet Claudius Essay Claudius and HamletClaudius Hamlet, would the inhumane and sick character please step forth. Upon reading the sampling of Hamlet criticisms in John Jumps Hamlet (Selections) I disagreed with a few of the critics, but my analysis was the most different from Wilson Knights interpretation. He labels Hamlet as a sick, cynical, and inhumane prince (Jump, 124) who vitiated a Denmark which was one of healthy and robust life, good-nature, humor, romantic strength, and welfare. In his book, The Wheel of Fire, he continues this line of thought to conclude that Claudius is a good and gentle king, enmeshed by the chain of causality linking him with his crime. And this chain he might, perhaps, have broken except for Hamlet (Jump, 125). Although Knights views of Hamlet and Claudius are almost the extreme opposite of my interpretation, I understand how he developed this interpretation. Hamlet becomes sick and cynical after the death of his father, whom he greatly admired, and the hasty remarriage of his mother to his uncle. Hamlet thinks his father was an excellent king, who loved his mother so much that he may might not beteem the winds of heaven/ Visit her face to roughly (I, ii, 140-141). However, his mother mourned for a little month and then she married a man who was no more like father/ Than to Hercules (I, ii, 153-152). These extraordinary events cause him to launch into a state of melancholy and depression in which he desires that this too too solid flesh would melt (I, ii, 129). In this melancholy, Hamlet loses becomes disenchanted with life, and to him the world seems weary, stale, flat, and unprofitable (I, ii, 133). Later in the most famous of his soliloquys, Hamlet contemplates committing suicide becau se he is troubled by the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune (III, i, 58). His disinterest for life, and his wishes for death are a definite indications of Hamlets sickness. Hamlets sickness is also shown through his strong relationship, bordering on obsession, with his mother. Throughout the play he constantly worries about her, and becomes angry when thinking of her relationship with Claudius. In his first soliloquy, Hamlet becomes enraged when he thinks about her incestuous sheet, and in frustration he makes the irrational generalization that, Frailty, thy name is woman! (I, ii, 146). In the closet scene, Hamlet treats his mother cruelly, and he accuses her of being involved in the plot to kill his father. Once again, he dwells on her enseamd bed/ Stewd in corruption (III, iv, 92-93). In his parting words to Gertrude, Hamlet instructs her to not let the bloat king tempt you again to his bed. (III, iv, 182). He is overly concerned with his mothers relationship with Claudius, and this is just a part of his complex sickness. Wilson Knight also claims that Hamlet is inhumane. This is clearly demonstrated through his relationship with the fair Ophelia. Hamlet originally professes his love for Ophelia during his visitations to her closet, and through the love letter which he writes to her. However, during the nunnery scene, when Ophelia tries to return Hamlets gifts, he retorts I never gave you aught, (III, i, 97) and he goes on to tell her, I loved you not (III, i, 119). Later in this scene he tells Ophelia that she should go to a nunnery. He viciously insults the women whom he said he loved, and this greatly disturbs her. During The Mousetrap, Hamlet once again has no regard for Ophelias feelings, and he mocks her by putting his head in her lap and bantering with her. Hamlet is also responsible for the death of Ophelias father, Polonius. In the closet scene, Hamlet mistook her father for the king, and he fatally stabbed him. Gertrude called this a rash and bloody deed (III, iii, 27). He later shows that h e has no remorse for this inhumane actions when he tells Claudius that Polonius is at supper?ot where he eats, but where he is eaten (IV, ii, 18-20). Hamlets harsh and cruel treatment of Ophelia and his murder of her father lead to the madness which eventually overtook her. She became distraught by Hamlets rejection and the death of her father. This madness caused her to commit suicide by jumping from the bridge. Therefore, Hamlet can be held responsible for her death. If he hadnt treated her in such a cruel manner, her life would not have ended so soon. Hamlet also reveals an inhumane and cynical side at the grave scene. When Laertes proclaims his love for Ophelia and his sorrow for her death, Hamlet rushes from his concealment and jumps into the grave after Laertes. Hamlet insults Laertes when he states, Forty thousand brothers/ Could not, with all their quantity of love,/ Make up my sum (V, i, 234-236). He is so cynical that he doubts that Laertes is sincere, even though there is no proof that Laertes is not being perfectly honest. His concern for his sister was shown when he gives her brotherly advice before he goes away. At the funeral when the priest implies that Ophelia should be buried in ground unsanctified have logd, (V, i, 239) Laertes protests, and he claims that Ophelia shall become a ministering angel (V, i, 251). Hamlet had no right to doubt Laertes and to challenge him at this time of great grief, but Hamlet has become so cynical that he has no regards for Laertes, and he intervenes and causes a fight. Wilson Knight also states that Denmark was place of healthy and robust life, good-nature, humour, romantic strength, and welfare (Jump, 125). The two clowns of act five, scene one display the general welfare of the state. The clowns, as in most Shakespearean plays, are symbols of the common people of the land. When we first encounter the clowns they are discussing the circumstances of Ophelias death, but they soon begin to joke with each other in a merry fashion, and the First Clown tells the Second Clown a joke. Later in the scene, the First Clown engages into his work and he sings an amusing song. This indicates that the common people are relatively satisfied, and they are in the position where they can appreciate humor and find some enjoyment from their lives. Christopher Columbus2 EssayAnother point to counter Knights claim that Hamlet is inhumane is the Princes relationship with the scholar Horatio. Horatio is Hamlets friend from Wittenberg who comes to Elsinore to see Old Hamlets funeral. He is a noble stoic who is by far the most pure character in the play. Horatio is one of the few characters who never tries to deceive anyone, and who doesnt get involved in any crooked plots. Before the Mousetrap, Hamlet calls Horatio as just a man/ As eer conversation copd withal (III, ii, 55-56). This connection between Hamlet and Horatio is so strong that at the end of the play when Hamlet is dying, Horatio is moved to attempt suicide because he is more an antique Roman than a Dane (V, ii, 345). The strong connection between Horatio and Hamlet is important because the pure and wise Horatio would not associate himself with a a sick, cynical, and inhumane prince. This is further evidence which casts doubt upon Knights analysis of Hamlet. Wilson Knight also suggests that the state of Denmark is one of healthy and robust life, good-nature, humor, romantic strength, and welfare. (Jump, 125). However, there are a great deal of textual evidence which indicates that this is an incorrect conclusion. When Bernardo and Francisco are keeping guard, Francisco notes that tis bitter cold,/ And I am sick at heart (I, i, 7-8). The guards are representative of the common people of Denmark, and his comment can be interpreted that the entire state of Denmark is sick at heart due to the recent death of Old Hamlet and Claudius ascension to the thrown. Upon seeing the ghost of Old Hamlet, Horatio comments, This bodes some strange eruption to our state (I, i, 69). Even the scholar who was hesitant to believe in ghosts is now convinced that Denmark is headed for trouble. After the ghost makes his second appearance, Marcellus notes, Something is rotten in the state of Denmark (I, iv, 90). Theses observations in the first act are clear indic ations that Denmark has transformed into a state of chaos. The most glaring weakness of Wilson Knights interpretation of Hamlet is his conclusion that Claudius is a good and gentle king, enmeshed by the chain of causality linking him with his crime (Jump, 125). Knight dismisses the murder of Old Hamlet too easily. As John Jump states, Claudius was no impulsive offender, suddenly acting our of character. He deliberately and treacherously poisoned his mistresss husband, a man who was his brother and his king (Jump, 125). Claudius is saddled with the responsibility for the murder of Old Hamlet, but he does not even consider repenting until the he realizes that Hamlet is planning to seek revenge. However, when he thinks about repent, he wonders May one be pardond and retain the offence? (III, iii, 67). Claudius sees the benefits of repenting, yet he does not want to give up the prizes of his sin. Ultimately, Claudius rises and his thoughts remain below even though his words fly up (III, iii, 98-99). The King is unable to repent because his praye rs are insincere. Is this a good and gentle king? Not only is Claudius unable to repent, but throughout the play he is extremely manipulative of many of the other characters. When Laertes challenges that Claudius is responsible for the madness of his sister and the death of his father, Claudius deftly avoids the situation, and he forms an alliance with Laertes. Claudius suggests that Laertes uses, A sword unbated, and, in a pass of practice/ Requite for your father (IV, vii, 137-138). Cladius further thickens the plot by adding that he will prepare a chalice for the nonce, where on but sipping/ If he by chance escapes venomd stuck,/ purpose may hold there (IV, vii, 159-161). Claudius engineers this vicious plot, and it results in the death of Laertes, Hamlet, and Gertrude. During his reign the kind and gentle King concocted a plot which resulted in the death of three members of the Danish royalty, he murdered his brother, the former King of Denmark, and entered into an incestuous relationship with his brothers wife. While constructing Wilson Knights argument, I gained a full understanding of how he derived his interpretation of the play, and I began to support his interpretation. However, as I began to deconstruct his argument, I realized that there are many weaknesses to his interpretation, and I realized the strengths of my interpretation. This is the challenge of literature. It can be interpreted in so many different manners, and at times the vastly different interpretations can greatly confuse students. It is the students responsibility to take criticisms into consideration, but to derive their own unique interpretation based upon their studies. Shakespeare Essays

Stress Relief free essay sample
Stress affects human performance in so many ways that just to list the impact upon work would take half of this page. People under high stress become forgetful, are often late for work, miss appointments, have more sick days, have lower competence levels, are more irritable and difficult to get along with, are more likely to break things (by accident or intention) and are great candidates for the kinds of stress-related illnesses and accidents that drain Workers Compensation benefits. Stress reduction must be a constant, on-going process in all our lives. It helps us avoid pain, illness and accident. And, a low-stress (or low-distress) lifestyle is certainly the most pleasant. Once a client who was under a great deal of stress at the time said to me, urgently: Look, all these options youve shown me for stress management are getting to be too much. Its like using a technique to put a patch on me here and another to put a patch on me there. We will write a custom essay sample on Stress Relief or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page I dont need to get better six months from now after Ive learned a whole bunch of new things I need to be better now!The strength of that response varies with the kind and strength of the demand and the circumstances under which the demand is made. For example, a ringing phone is a demand. It gets a different strength of response depending upon when it rings. If you are taking a usual number of calls at the office at times you expect them, the demand is relatively low and your physical reaction is probably minimal. If the phone rings in the middle of the night when youre worried about a seriously ill loved-one in the hospital, the demand and your response are going to be high. The response is generally called the fight/flight response. It should be called the fight/flight/freeze/faint/fumble response, since those are the usual possible outcomes. But, whatever we call it, heres basically what happens in your body: * Your heart rate goes up. * Your blood pressure goes up. * You begin to perspire to help keep the body cool. * Blood is directed away from hands/feet/digestive system to power large muscles. * Your diaphragm (the muscle that works your lungs like a bellows) locks and your breathing becomes shallow and rapid. Your pupils dialate to help you see the enemy better. * Your awareness of hearing becomes more focused. * Your digestive system shuts down so the energy expended there can be used where its needed. (Or, alternatively, the system may attempt to void its contents, so youll be lighter and move faster. ) * Your immune and self-repair systems go on standby. After all, the processes of these systems are incompatible with heavy action. Besides, you need the energy to fight or run. If you really need to meet a physical threat, all this is great. It prepares your body to do the job. Then, after doing the job destroying or avoiding the stressor your body returns to normal. However, almost all our stressors (stressors are whatever cause stress) today are what psychologists call psychosocial. That is, they come from how we experience our selves, our work and other activities, and our relationships with other people. So, if your boss yells at you, your body is likely to react exactly the same as if you had to deal with a charging rhinoceros. Yet, you cant literally do what your bodys prepared to do: you cant throw your spear at him and run. That means youre going to carry some tension from the encounter around with you until you find a way to discharge it. Furthermore, you are likely to face many daily psychosocial stressors that cause the fight/flight response. If you dont find satisfying resolutions to your stressors, or if there are too many stressors, or if the response is too intense, eventually youre going to experience symptoms of stress-related illness. Stress symptoms may be physical or psychological. Physical symptoms range from muscle tension and headaches through high blood pressure and gastrointestinal ulcers to heart attacks and cancer.Psychological symptoms range from chronic anxiety through recurrent depression to complete nervous breakdowns. Physical activity is necessary to stress relief in helping to dissipate the stress reactions the flight/fight response. In addition, it helps you to: * Reduce muscular tension of sedentary functions. * Promote relaxation. * Sleep easier and better. * Concentrate better. * Reduce pain. * Raise mood. (Very important in anxiety and depression. ) * Reduce fatigue/restore energy. * Increase stamina, strength and suppleness to help make you stress-fit i. e. the fight/flight response is taken with greater ease and shaken with greater ease. Understanding this, you can see that a bit of physical activity might be worthwhile as a system of discharging the tensions of that fight/flight response. What exactly do you mean by physical activity? Exercise is a great idea if you can do, dont mind doing and dont overdo. A regular exercise program helps manage physical stress buildup, makes you feel better over all and probably live a longer and healthier life. But, if you really hate it and resent it, youre not going to follow through with it.You might as well try something else you find more pleasant. Participating in sports is a more enjoyable way of releasing stress and tension for many people. Regular participation is as good as a regular exercise program. Yoga, in a class or on your own, can also provide the benefits of a regular exercise program. It is, however, far less demanding for beginners, allowing the practitioner to slowly ease into the various stretches and poses. Moreover, you feel good while you are doing it and afterward. Done properly, yoga leaves muscles pleasantly stretched and stimulated. You want to say that in English? How and what you think determine how you feel (emotionally) and how you behave. If you have awareness of and control over your thinking process, then essentially you have control over everything that happens to you. In regard to the management of stress, this means that you can seize control of your reactions at the time of the flight/fight response and take the time to understand whats happening and what you want to do. (You must remember that the flight/fight response will occur automatically its a built-in survival mechanism. But you can reduce the occasions upon which it occurs in reaction to imaginary threats and you can reduce the intensity of the response to real threats that nevertheless do not affect your life, health or general well-being. ) Furthermore, since your body doesnt know the difference between real events and imaginary ones, you can use your thoughts to directly change whats happening in your body. For example, in self-hypnosis you can imagine your hands and feet becoming warmer and warmer. They will do so and at the same time you will be balancing the flow of blood throughout your body. What do I do to be a mind master, O Swami? There are a number of methods of gaining the ability to focus and control your mind, but no matter what approach seems to fit for you, they all accomplish the same tasks for stress management: Physical Benefits * Breathing slows and becomes deep and rhyt hmical. * Heart rate slows and blood pressure drops. * Brain waves slow to relaxed but alert level. * Muscle tension eases. * You become well relaxed. Psychological Benefits * Distressing emotion is inhibited remember, you cannot be relaxed and anxious or angry at the same time. * Calm envelopes you. Awareness is heightened and/or focused, depending on the method used. * Thought clarifies or is dispensed with, depending on the method of used. Meditation. Meditation is the method I most recommend to achieve focus and control in your thinking processes. There are many possible ways to meditate including Zen-style, chanting, mantra-repetition, awareness-training and contemplation. I recommend Zen-style. Its simple, quickly-learned, compact and easily portable. Well, O. K. , its simple to explain and you can learn how in less than a minute. But it takes a lifetime to master. However, you dont have to master the method to get the benefits you need for stress management; you just have to practice every day. Heres how: find a quiet, comfortable place to sit. Either close your eyes or allow your gaze to fall unfocused on the floor about three feet in front of you. Breathe normally and count your breaths thus: breathe in, do nothing, breathe out, count 1, repeat until you reach 4, then start over again from 1. Do nothing but breathe and count. Dont think, dont talk, dont look, dont listen. Just breathe and count. Continue for about ten minutes. Visualization.Instead of not thinking about anything, you think very specifically about one thing by making an imaginary movie in you head. For example, you might imagine yourself sitting on a tropical beach at dawn. You could see the changing colors in the sky as the sun rises, feel the soft warm breeze lift your hair away from your face, hear the plaintive cry of a gull, smell the saltiness of the water, hear the surf hitting the rocks beyond. If you can become proficient at putting yourself in such scenes, you can put yourself in scenes that make you feel anything you want to feel and you can modify any experience. Self-Hypnosis.

How to Reveal Invisible Ink Messages
How to Reveal Invisible Ink Messages Most invisible ink messages can be revealed by heating the paper on which they are written. The ink weakens the fibers in the paper so the message discolors (burns) before the rest of the paper. The real secret, aside from the message, is how to reveal it without setting your paper on fire. Tip: Dont use a lighter, match, or open fire to reveal your invisible ink message. You can lay the paper over an incandescent light bulb with fairly good results, but it is hard to tell if your paper is hot enough, so you may not know whether your paper is blank or whether you just cant see the message. There Are Other Methods That Work Better You can iron your paper (dont use steam). This is probably the best method, but you may not have an iron or else have no idea where you put it. A hot iron for your hair also works. Another simple method is to wave the paper over a hot stove. If you have a secret invisible ink message, youll start to see some distortion of the paper as it gets hot. If you continue heating the paper, the message will darken to a gold or brown color. If you use a stove, its still possible to ignite your message, but it is a lot less likely than if you used fire. You Can Use Almost Anything to Write an Invisible Ink Message Try using a broken toothpick as a pen and saliva or lemon juice as ink. You can even use plain water to write the message... the message wont darken, but when you first heat the paper the fibers that were moved when the paper absorbed the water will bulge out a bit. Try it!

See attched - Essay Example The moral law is based ââ¬Å"not in the nature of man, nor in the circumstances of the world in which man is placed, but â⬠¦. A priori solely in the concepts of pure reason.â⬠2 The categorical imperatives of Kant demand us not to tell a lie even when the life of someone may be at risk due to our rigid adherence to the moral rules.3 Helga and Springer have pointed out another outcome of the traditional rules of morality, that is, some feminists have started demanding the moral laws to be based on emotions and personal relationships. According to them, the traditional approach of moral rules places too much emphasis on abstract principles and the role of reason. Though both the views have some weight and there is also some room for criticism on the Kantian morality as well as the feminist approach of ethics of care and emotions, moral theory certainly should be based on rules. The main criticism of the moral theory based on rules is that these rules restrict our actions to do good which have good consequences. The human nature resists such restrictions and seeks liberty and freedom to do what pleases it. As the end of morality is to give happiness to the humanity, this happiness individual wish to seek through doing things according to their instincts rather than guided by some set of rules. That is why; the rules of morality often fail to bind human being to do good according to the set of rules. However, it is wrong to say that our ethical values should be based on our feelings more than the rules. Certainly, rules of morality provide us guidelines to do certain things and help us become civilized. For example, if people are let to do thi ngs instinctively, they would start fighting with other human beings just for the sake of their own pleasure. And if people are guided by their own feelings, they would prefer to do things according to what gratifies them rather than what is based on rational and reason. For instance, it is my feeling sometime that the

Comparing Hobbes, Locke and Rousseau Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Comparing Hobbes, Locke and Rousseau - Essay Example One of the key problems involved in the debate on justification of political authority is the balance between limitations imposed by any political authority and individual freedom. On the one hand, freedom is exceptionally important to the life of a person in many senses. On the other hand, an individual can not be allowed to act solely at his or her will: there must be certain rules for behavior. Establishing this balance between individual freedom and interests of the community is the key task of any state and government which acts like a stabilizer. In case this balance is in place, the highest level of individual freedom is achieved while the risk of falling into total anarchy is avoided (Popper, 1985). According to Thomas Hobbes, in prehistoric uncivilized times before any sort of government emerged, there was constant war with ââ¬Å"every man, against every manâ⬠(Hobbes, 1668, p.12). Consequently, Hobbesian justification of authority logically followed from the total brutality of human beings in their natural state characterized by intolerance: submission to authority was the only way to eliminate the brutality and intolerance of the State of Nature (Hobbes, 1668). By contrast, John Locke believed that the original state of man was not as hostile as Hobbes thought. In Lockeââ¬â¢s opinion happiness, reason and tolerance were the core characteristics of the natural man, and all humans, in their original state, were equal and absolutely free to pursue things, considered as indisputable rights, namely ââ¬Å"â⬠¦life, health, liberty and possessionsâ⬠(Locke, 1990, par. 6). However, Lockeââ¬â¢s State of Nature is not chaotic with every individual pursuing its own egoistic goals. Despite absence of any authority or government with the power to punish the subjects for wrong actions, Locke believed that the State of Nature was effectively regulated by morality. Since all human beings in the

Over all Impacts of Hobby Lobby Case Essay Example for Free
Over all Impacts of Hobby Lobby Case Essay As the Supreme Court has ruled against the ObamaCare mandate recently, commonly referred as the The Affordable Care Act (ACA), many of the religious communities are overwhelmed about the decision and take it as a victory whereas others are outraged about this situation as women community will be greatly affected by the rulings of the court. It is a setback for the women society that in the name of religious liberty they will be deprived of their medical concerned issues. The companies that consist of religious ideology will be able to legitimize something that may harm others. Certainly these events will have constant series of effects on the society and as well as some changes may also occur in the legislation relating to ObamaCare. Obamacare covers twenty types of birth control, upon four of them; the court has objected (Tom Cohen, 2014). Hobby lobby states that it is showing efforts to provide religious freedom but majority of the public donââ¬â¢t agree with this statement. Instead people are outraged that it is interfering in their personal lives. It will not let them exercise there constitutional rights. Moreover they would be forced to obey or practice something that they donââ¬â¢t agree upon. People will not tolerate that there liberty and freedom will be in risk. Soon the similar types of entities like Hobby Lobby will be legitimizing discrimination against gays and lesbians by businesses (Salon.com, 2014). Defintly it would be unethical of doing so because what kind of an individual is having relationships is their personal right. In the name of faith and religion they will be creating barriers in there jobs and at work places. On the stance of ethical issues, the question arises about the religious liberty. Will it really make us a good Christian or minimizing our choices and freedom? It will be unacceptable by the public that the Supreme Court has legalized something that creates discrimination and deprives women from their medical rights. Indeed it is a biased decision made by the Supreme Court. In the light of the decisions made, employees of any company will be obliged to practice the religious beliefs practiced by their owners. Common people have a religious perspective that, every individual is responsible for his or her own deeds and will be answerable to God. But the decision that has been taken in this case by the court will certainly snatch the liberty from the companyââ¬â¢s employees. Upper management will be able to force their religious beliefs and customs down the throatsà of their employees. On the other hand, the decision will have negative effects on the women employees as majority of them may have a chance of suffering from medical problems for example in case of ovarian cancer, ovarian cysts, they wonââ¬â¢t be able to get enough or no treatment because of the objection of contraceptives. Thousands of women employees of these companies would have to pay double or be out of their birth control plan (Tom Cohen, 2014). It would be unethical for the companies for interfering in their employeeââ¬â¢s private personal medical matters. References Tom Cohen, C. (2014). Hobby Lobby ruling much more than abortion. CNN. Antigone :: essays research papers
Justice is a word we hear today all the time. Left and right we hear of judges and citizens demanding justice. Is justice always the right way? It seems that justice is not always the correct solution to a problem, but a solution that is the easiest to make. The classic play Antigone is a perfect example of this. Antigone is classic tragedy at its finest. A simple civilized and humane right of burying a loved one is turned into a great loss. Creonââ¬â¢s inapt decision to hold his power and sentence Antigone to death causes him to lose the people he loves most. The ââ¬Å"justiceâ⬠of the play is simply Creonââ¬â¢s punishment for his cruelty to Antigone. à à à à à When Antigone learns that no one is to bury her brother, she immediately knows what she must do. She doesnââ¬â¢t even hesitate to her decision and she is fully willing to face the consequences to do what is right. She believes that what she is doing is just a humane right and sheââ¬â¢s willing to die for what she believes in. She even tells Creon that what heââ¬â¢s doing is against what the gods wanted and that his laws were worthless. She states: ââ¬Å"Not through dread of any human pride could I answer to the gods for breaking these.â⬠It seems that gods are almost speaking to Creon through Antigone and warning him of his decision. à à à à à Antigone is almost hailed to a god like status, as Oedipus was before her. She is extremely strong and unbelievably willing to sacrifice everything in the name of honor and pride. She so easily makes her decisions and chooses to die willingly without a second thought. The minute Creon questions her on breaking the law, she states: ââ¬Å"Die I must, -I knew that well (how should I not?)-even without thy edicts.â⬠What is even more is that Antigone was a woman, a woman in a time of extreme male domination. This makes her even stronger of a person in the play and shows the growing strength of the gender that we know of today. à à à à à The blind sear once again plays the roll of an extremely reliable, but ignored person. He warns Creon of his terrible mistake but when Creon goes to change his wrongs, he finds out its too late. Creon is given more than enough warnings of his fate as Antigone states in the play: ââ¬Å"And if my present deeds are foolish in thy sight, it may be that a foolish judge arraigns my folly.

Participation of Juveniles in Deviant Behavior Essay
From the very dawn of the formation of civil communities, some types of behavior had been classified as unlawful and had been discouraged. Even the earliest legislations had inflicted punishment for infringement of the extant laws, in wider interests of their society. This practice has continued to this day and it is common knowledge as to what does or does not constitute unacceptable or deviant behavior. Deviance has been described as the breach of the cultural standards and one such instance is crime. An important subset of crime is juvenile delinquency or crimes committed by juveniles. Juvenile deviant behavior occurs due to a number of causes and some of these are a disturbed home environment, difficulty in adjusting to the school environment that results in discontinuing school and in poor academic performance and associating with immoral persons. Traditionally, the perspective of criminology has been restricted to the contravention of laws laid down by society. On the other hand, research in the context of deviancy has adopted a much wider perspective and labels any abnormality that is socially prohibited as being deviant. Accordingly, the use of obscenities in speech, mingling with antisocial element and alcoholism constitute deviant behavior. In other words, the sociological approach to deviance encompasses the restricted perspective of traditional criminology (Deviant Behaviour , 1994). The various steps that culminate in the establishment of deviant identity are ignominy, social rejection, and membership of a subculture that is deviant and assumption of a deviant role. The assumption is that social processes act in such a manner that the individual is compelled to assume a deviant role, because of the exclusion of the more conventional positions. The result of the adoption of such a deviant role is that the individual may become a member of a deviant subculture and may eventually adorn the role of permanent deviancy (Deviant Behaviour , 1994). Some of the major causes for socially deviant behavior amongst juveniles have been identified, by researchers, as childhood abuse, neglect and trauma. The abuse of narcotic substances has been considered to be the root cause of trauma in juveniles and most of the juveniles in detention were either addicted to drugs or had been addicted to drugs prior to incarceration. Furthermore, poverty has been found to be closely associated with violent crime and homicide. It was observed in many ghettos in the US that the crime rate was on the increase wherever there was economic deprivation, whereas there was a reduction in crime rates in areas located outside these ghettos (Blank, 1997. P. 47). It had been opined by the chief of the child development and behavior branch of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development or the NIH that crime, pregnancy amongst teenagers, discontinuation of school and substandard academic performance were caused by the lack of adequate reading skills. Moreover, various research projects that had been conducted in the past, had established that a dearth of reading skills had a direct bearing on the proliferation of juvenile delinquency (Hodges, Giuliotti, & Porpotage, 1994). In 1951, a survey conducted by Melvin Roman, revealed that approximately eighty à ¬Ã¢â¬â five percent of those who were receiving treatment in the clinic attached to the New York City Childrenââ¬â¢s Court, had impaired reading skills. It was also stated by many authorities that detained juveniles were invariably characterized by academic achievement that was unsatisfactory (Hodges, Giuliotti, & Porpotage, 1994). Economic deprivation produces a variety of deviant behavior in juveniles, who fall victim to anger, apathy, ignorance and desperation. Ignorance prevents juveniles from taking advantage of the education system to obtain skills that could prove to be adequately remunerative and this in turn results in discontinuation of schooling. Moreover, some of these juveniles might have parents who indulge in the abuse of drugs and this could embolden them to undertake risks that could prove fatal, in order to experience pleasure for a small duration of time.

Corporate Social Responsibility Of The World Essay
Chapter: 2 Corporate Social Responsibility 2.1 History of Corporate Social Responsibility 2.1.1 Corporate Social Responsibility in the World: The origin of Corporate Social Responsibility in businesses has no fixed date. Most experts, scholars, researchers, practitioners, writers, philanthropists, civil societies conscious citizens opined that it can be carried out in an ethical and socially responsible manner. It is assumed that in the year 1960 corporate social responsibility began to emerge, and the civil rights movement, consumerism, and environmentalism greatly changed the way society expected the business world to behave. In the year 1970 there came the common use of the term CSR along with many attempts to officially define the phrase. In 1980, the new International Development Strategy focused on achieving a more stable world economy, stimulating economic growth, evening out social inequities and countering the worst impacts of poverty. While scholars from the 1970s into the 1990s wrestled with CSR concepts and developed stakeholder theory, numerous business leaders had independently articulated similar views on the purpose of business. Throughout this period scholars attempted to define, redefine, and clarify the concept of corporate social responsibility that they saw being assumed by, imposed upon, and played out by business. In addition, scholars sought to connect and integrate disparate principles and activities into a more comprehensive conceptual model.Show MoreRelatedCorporate Social Responsibility Of The Business World1269 Words à |à 6 PagesCORPORATE SOCIAL RESPOSIBILITY Presentation: Corporate social commitment is the term used to portray the way that a business considers the cash related, characteristic and social impacts of decisions and exercises it is incorporated in. The school system in Germany is a little different from in Americaââ¬â¢s school system. All children enter in the same program, but at the age of 10, they can go to one of four different types of schools. The way that they enter school determines whether they will go to a university or enter a technical field or trade field. Colleges in Germany are very difficult to get into. They require you to have a high school diploma and, a GPA that is equivalent to 60% of your grade. These requirements just stated will allow you to get into the lowest level of college that they have to offer. There school system goes on programs that help you get a degree in a specific field. Once you enter a program at the school, you must finish it. It is not like our school systems in the United States where you can change whenever you want. If a student in Germany starts a program and, after 3 years, he or she decides that they want to get out of that program, he or she must start over from the beginning. Profitability of Slavery - 1536 Words
Economic History Topic Report ECO 3183 Topic title: Profitability of Slavery Briefly state the two opposing views. A. Abolitionists condemned slavery based on moral, social, and economic reasons. Many believed that slaves were mistreated and were often subjected to corporal punishment. Others argued that the forced labor of blacks was inefficient and unproductive for various racial and economic reasons. Ulrich Phillipââ¬â¢s studies from the antebellum slavery in the south claimed that although plantation slavery produced great wealth, even without the civil war, slavery was economically on a dead end due to the rising cost of factor prices (slaves) increasing faster than the product prices (cotton). B. Economists approachedâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦If the price of cotton increases, then the demand for labor also increases which ultimately drives up slave prices. If cotton prices stay the same but there is an increase in output per worker, then the price of slaves will increase. If the cost to maintain a slave decreases, then the difference will eventually offset once slave prices increases to its equilibrium. Conrad and Meyer found Phillipââ¬â¢s table involving the relationship between the prices of prime field hands compared to the prices of cotton accurate; however, they explained that Phillips Page 2 was missing key data to support his claims of slavery being unprofitable. Phillips completely left out the overall productivity of a slave, which was the ultimate difference in the revision of 1958. A major factor Conrad and Meyer took into consideration concerning production was the reproduction rates for females. Their researched showed that ââ¬Å"prime hand wenches produced anywhere between 5-10 kids, and was one-half to two-thirds productive as prime field handsâ⬠(C.M. 106-107). However, an average 3 months time is lost due to pregnancy. After calculating return rates they found that women bearing 10 children would have an 8.1 percent rate of return and a women with 5 children will have a 7.1 percent rate of return. Human Resource Analytics Click Now To Get Solution
Question: Discuss about theHuman Resource Analytics. Answer: Introduction Gold is a precious metal in this world because of its various applications. Therefore, understanding the way its prices are affected could be valuable to the investors. The gold prices are subject to external factors that affect the general pricing of gold throughout the world. Gold has been there for thousands of years and yet it has remained to be of value even today. That makes it an integral piece of the worlds economy. When gold prices go up, important aspects of the economy are affected such as fuel prices, food prices and so on (Rong Lijian 2008). Therefore, having knowledge regarding what affects the gold prices will aid the investors in beforehand preparations and insulation against trying economic times. The availability of gold is the primary factor that results in the fluctuation of gold prices. There are other factors, which this essay will address, that affect the gold availability, and in turn, they affect gold prices. Continuing Factors Iranzo et al. (2007) believe that availability of Gold affects the prices of gold. Whenever gold is in plenty, the prices of the gold will go down. The reduced prices are as a result of the increased rate of substitution. Since there are many points where the clients can get the gold, the gold sellers have less control over he prices. During times of scarcity, the gold prices will increase because of the low rate of substitution. Looking at the seasonality charts (See appendix 4), gold prices are high at the period after the May 5th all the way to December. After that, the prices are low after December until May creating a season. One such time when the gold prices are down is during a global crisis which results in the low confidence of investors in financial markets or governments. World events affect the gold prices because they affect the availability of gold in the world. When the Russians moved into Ukraine, the prices of Gold increased because the geopolitical instability was affecting the production of the metal. That increased the scarcity of the metal. One-Off Factors Gold prices are also affected by the demand and supply factors of its market. Gold is a metal known for its high demand since it has numerous uses. It can be used to create priced beauty ornaments that fetch extremely high prices. The metal is also an industrially preferred metal because of its high resistance to corrosion. That means it is long lasting and increases the productivity of the industries. Moreover, it has a high thermal and electrical conductivity making it even more precious to the industrial market. Manheim (2010) asserts that gold has a finite supply which means that it is a very scarce resource. Whenever it becomes available in the market, it is purchased at a faster rate. The high demand leads to under-supplication of the commodity. Because of the scarcity, the prices will increase. The charts show this effect between December and January (see appendix 3). As the year ends, the demand is high but the supply keeps on decreasing because the Gold is quickly purchased off the market. Central bank reserves are also a primary input in the prices of gold all around the world since they hold gold and paper currencies in their reserves. The purpose of doing this is to maintain the supply of these commodities in the market. When gold is in excess within the economy, there could be inflation which may occur (Roosma Saar 2012). Following appendix 2, it can be seen that the demand is high following the increased prices. As the gold is purchased from the market, the prices increase which show the effect that the Central Bank has on the gold prices. In a bid to avert the potential inflation, the Central Bank will buy gold from the economy and put it in storage. That will reduce the flow of these commodities in the market. That is why there is a seasonal pattern of gold prices for about twenty years where gold prices are low until May 5th but rise again from then to about December 5th. That is called the gold season seasonality. The mere fact that it occurred for the last t wenty out of thirty years increases the reliability and validity of this assertion. Interest rates are factors that affect the general prices of gold all over the world. Gold fails to pay interest in the same way a savings account or treasury bonds would. However, the current gold prices have often reflected a decline or increase in the interest rates (Lubienski Jameson 2016). When the interest rates hike up, the gold prices reduce since people will be selling their gold in a bid to free up funds to use for other investment opportunities. A decrease in the interest rates, however, results in an increase in gold prices. That is because people will want to save money and escape the effects of the high-interest rates. The gold price may increase later on because of the lower opportunity cost incurred in holding gold over other investments. Wealth protection is also a factor that affects the gold prices over the years. In the cases that result in economic uncertainty, investors will opt to invest in gold because of its value that is long lasting. According to Feiler (2006), gold is a metal that is unique because of its ability to withstand natures force of depreciation. That means that its depreciation is extremely low resulting in an enduring value. Thus, Gold is always a haven for investors during challenging economic times such as the economic recession of 2000. When the gold is in plenty, investors will purchase the gold to sell it when the prices are high. These investments reduce the supply of gold explaining the increase between December and January (see Appendix 1). Gold has been a hedge against trying economic times where gold prices are forced up. It has been a hedge for investors against deflation, inflation, and currency devaluation within an economy insulating investors. Thanks to its enduring value, invest ors will not feel the pinch of the economic falls. Viswanatha Satyanarayana the Legacy of Telugu Literature Essay Example For Students
Viswanatha Satyanarayana the Legacy of Telugu Literature Essay About Viswanatha Viswanatha Satyanarayana, the Poet Laureate of Andhra Pradesh and winner of JnanPith Award, is undoubtedly one of the greatest scholar-poets of Andhra. An octogenerian with continuous and untiring literary activity extending over six decades, Viswanatha Satyanarayana has had the good fortune of living with writers of three generations. The first generation of elders are his seniors in age at least by 20 years. They include his Gurus also. The second generation consists of contemporaries mostly of his age with a few others. The third generation consists of writers who are juniors to him by 20 to 40 years. These three generations represent writers of Puranic and Prabandhic style, moderns who wrote in the same style and those of the Bhavakavita school of poetry, and all the rest who tried to improve upon it or revolt against it. All these writers, whether they agree or disagree with Viswanatha, respect his unquestioned authority. In scholarship and learning he is on par with the ancient scholar-poets. In tradition he is in line with Nannaya, Tikkana and Srinatha, the great masters of Telugu poetry. The ideal of his poetry is the nearest approximation to the prayer ââ¬Å"Lokaah Samastaah Sukhino Bhavantu. I am also add that it does not confine itself only to man but includes all living creatures. That evening Mr. Rao looked more like a scholar and so much less like a politician. He spoke in chaste Hindi except for three words (ââ¬ËKatte, Kotte, Techcheââ¬â¢) which is used to explain to the gathering how good the Telugus were at reducing the essence of the great epic into three simple words. Like Veni, Vidi, Vici. Characterisation Itââ¬â¢s impossible, said Mr. Rao, to describe that a marvelous job Vishwanatha has done of it. Valmiki looked at Rama as though he were human, Vishwanatha makes Rama a great man, a perfect man ââ¬â a godly man . The Rama of Tulsidas and the Rama of Valmiki are juxtaposed in the Rama of Vishwantham he added. The Chief Minister went on with his discourse on the intricacies of Kalpavrikshamu. Little kids in the hall began to weep. A few souls coughed a bit, Someone quietly walked up to the CM, slipped a watch near his notes on the table and left. Mr. Rao got the hint. He was embarrassed. How can any one tell you about a book like Ramayana in ten minutes? He Smiled and rather hurriedly finished his speech and went back to his seat. Between Mr. Rao and the Kavisamrat, three others spoke the President, Jnanapith President (Mrs. Rama Jain and Selection Board Chairman Dr. Karan Singh. Mr Giriââ¬â¢s Speech was, as usual insipid. He appears to have been a trade union leader for too long. He refuses to distinguish the difference between a labour union meeting and a literary-minded peopleââ¬â¢s gathering. ââ¬Å"The paramount need of the country at the present juncture, when it is facing external danger and serious internal problems caused by the influx of the refugees from across our border, is the protection and preservation of the national integration at all costs. â⬠he said. Must they be told thing like this at a function where your are honoring a literary genius for his creative contribution to a rich and beautiful language? Everlasting value Dr. Karan Singhââ¬â¢s brief speech was on the other hand, remarkable for at least one point he made. The greatness of epics like Ramayana, he said, lay in the fact that they were capable of being ââ¬Ëcreatively reinterpreted by generations of writers and yet retain their original flovour. He won a big applause. Dr. Singh also garlanded Vishwanatha and put ââ¬Ëtilakââ¬â¢ on his forehead. The ââ¬ËPresident then presented a statuette of Vagdevi, the symbol of the award and a while envelope containing a one-lakh rupee cheque to the poet. The citation read just before the presentation, said in part: ââ¬ËAs a poet of classic vision anl virility, as a novelist and playwright of deep-in-sight and impact, as an essayist and literary critic of force and felicity and as a stylist of rare ââ¬Ërange, Mr. Satyanarayana has carved for himself a place of eminence amongst the immortals of Telugu literature. His ceaseless creativity and versatility have kept him for these 30 years in the forefront of contemporary Telugu literary scene The 76-year old poet appeared to feel rather uneasy. Through out the ceremony (it lasted more than an hour) he was seen shuffling uncomfortably in his seat.
